Meet Our Donors
Both Deacon Jerry and Susan Roersma have been deeply rooted in the life of the Church since their earliest years.
When Deacon Jerry and Susan Roersma met at West Catholic High School, they regularly attended Mass together, and have dedicated their lives to the Church ever since. “Being involved with the church just came natural to me,” said Deacon Jerry. “There was never any gap in our formation,” added Susan. “It began in childhood and continued on into adulthood. We are grateful that all of our children experienced Catholic education throughout their schooling.”
Deacon Jerry always felt called to serve the Church, so when the invitation to the diaconate arose, he accepted with joy and humility. “I love being a deacon. I love to see the program grow. I am so grateful we have a bishop who’s supportive,” he said.
A few years ago, the Roersmas showed their love and faith in another way, by joining the Light of Christ Legacy Society. “We had our will made up and, in addition to our kids, we included our daughter’s foundation, the Riley Katheryn Foundation, and our parish that we’ve been supporting for many, many years, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Comstock Park,” said Deacon Jerry. “Holy Trinity is a big part of the community. They fed us spiritually for 40 years. We want to continue that legacy,” said Susan.
“We’ve been blessed through the best and worst of times,” she continued. “And faith sustained us through it.” “Where much is given, much will be expected, and God has blessed us. It’s not a chore to return it. We enjoy giving of the fruits that God has given us,” said Deacon Jerry.
Inspired by the Roersmas’ faith and generosity, you too can make a lasting difference. We invite you to prayerfully consider how your own legacy might continue to inspire and sustain our Catholic community for generations to come.
